Recovery continues beyond treatment

Leaving rehab can be a significant milestone, but it can also feel daunting. The structure and support of treatment are no longer around you in the same way, while everyday responsibilities, relationships, emotions and familiar triggers begin to return.

You may feel hopeful and determined while also wondering, ‘How do I maintain what I've worked so hard to build?'

Therapy can provide a consistent space to navigate this transition and continue developing your recovery outside of treatment.

Adjusting to Life After Rehab

Recovery is about more than abstinence. Returning to everyday life can mean learning how to manage emotions differently, rebuild relationships, establish boundaries, recognise triggers and create routines that support your wellbeing.

You may also find yourself asking who you are without alcohol or drugs and what you want your life to look like moving forward.

Together, we can explore these changes while supporting you to build a life that feels meaningful, stable and aligned with your values.

Continue Your Recovery With Support

Whether you've recently completed rehab or have been in recovery for some time, you don't have to wait until you're struggling to reach out.

Therapy Alongside the 12 Steps

If you attend AA, CA or NA, or are working a 12-Step programme, therapy can provide additional emotional support alongside your recovery.

Working the Steps can sometimes bring difficult experiences, relationships, resentments, grief, shame or other emotions to the surface. Therapy offers a confidential space where these experiences can be explored more deeply.

Therapy does not replace fellowship, meetings or sponsorship. Instead, it can complement your recovery by providing a different space for psychological and emotional exploration.

Building a Life Beyond Addiction

Recovery doesn't have to be defined only by what you have stopped doing. It can also become about what you are building, your relationships, your values, your wellbeing, your confidence, your purpose, and a life in which alcohol or drugs no longer need to be at the centre. Alongside my private practice, I work therapeutically within a residential rehabilitation setting, supporting people at different stages of addiction treatment and recovery. My experience includes working with the 12-Step approach and supporting individuals as they explore the emotional and psychological issues that can emerge throughout this process.

This experience has given me an understanding of both the structured environment of rehabilitation and the challenges that can arise when returning to everyday life. Therapy after rehab can provide a place to continue the work you have already begun — exploring patterns, managing emotions, strengthening relationships and developing a deeper understanding of yourself.

There may be difficult days along the way, but recovery is not only about maintaining abstinence. It can also be about creating a life that feels meaningful, connected and worth protecting.

You don't have to navigate that journey alone.
